The CocoRio Learning Journey
CocoRio’s Learning Journey has four magic ingredients: music, movement, art and languages. Each CocoRio session must include at least one of the four ingredients.
Music
Vocal, instrumental or rhythmic sounds (or all) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion.
Movement
Movement based activities, dance and sports all contribute to the development of motor skills. This is the body's ability to manage the process of movement. To execute motor skills, a person's brain, muscles and nervous system must all work together.
Art
Activities that involve making things by hand. Hugely beneficial for motor and fine skills development as well as experimentation and expression.
Languages
Words, pronunciation, and the methods of combining them to be understood.
The encouragement of clear communication to equip children with skills to communicate confidently to the world.
The Learning Journey in a CocoRio Experience
6-18 months
For this age group, sensory play is amazing! Creative experiences are designed around the following:
Building nerve connections in the brain through colour recognition
Encouraging language through songs and rhymes
Learning the feeling of different textures through puppetry or interactive storytelling
2-3 years
Toddlers have a short attention span and lots of interests - a multidisciplinary approach is key! Creative experiences are designed around the following:
Fostering imagination and creative thinking
Colour recognition games
Language and motor skill development
Learning to follow instructions and problem solve
Outdoor eco-friendly adventures
4-6 years
Much like toddlers, a multidisciplinary approach is great for this age group. To build on from the previous age group, creative experiences are designed around the following:
Enhance decision making skills
Explore the new school life - building friendships
Identify new emotions
Foster independent thinking
6-8 years
This age group is all about up-skilling. keeping things new, exciting and magical is key. Creative experiences are designed around the following:
Explore differing relationships in their school life
Start shaping their understanding of role models
Encourage independence and taking initiative in play
Continue building on problem solving skills e.g. musical and drama games
9+ years
Creative learning are the magic words here. At this age, no one wants to be ‘looked after’. The role of the creative nanny is more as a creative mentor than a nanny.
Tweens and teens may be dealing with difficult emotions and so being aided through a creative outlet can be great e.g songwriting, writing a play.
It is also key to take them seriously and value their opinions to foster independent thinking.
