Half-Term Lifesavers: 20+ London Activities for a Spooktacular Break!

October half-term is just around the corner, and we know you're on the hunt for enriching experiences for your little ones. Well, guess what? We've got you covered with more than 20 Half-term activities in and around London! 

To kick things off, we’ve partnered up with amazing organisations to bring you a splash of CocoRio creativity with some of your other favourite things:

  1. Who doesn’t love pancakes? Well Cocorio and Where The Pancakes Are are bringing you a Spooky Pancake Party! Join us for spooky pancake-making, Halloween-themed games, and DIY pancake decorating! The event takes place on the 24th october between 2pm - 4pm and costs £25

  2. Ever thought of combining your pub outing with some fun kids time? Well now you can! Ryan’s Bar Sunday Roast with Kids Corner will happen on the 29 Oct, 5 Nov and 19 Nov N16 Stoke Newington. Sessions are 90 minutes long to allow time for kids to settle. Children 18 months - 5 years old welcome!

  3. Halloween at the Market brings you another spooktacular event taking place in Gravesend Borough Market on Sunday 29 October between 12pm and 4 pm.This is a family-friendly event with lots of free activities, including face painting, arts & crafts, costume making and family-friendly games.

7. Halloween Pumpkin Carving at Chelsea Physic Garden: Kids can get hands-on experience carving their own pumpkins at this workshop. It takes place on Tuesday, 24 October 2023 and Thursday, 26 October 2023. The price is £20 for adults and £15 for children.

8. Halloween Broomstick Workshop at Chelsea Physic Garden: This fun workshop allows kids to make their own broomsticks. It takes place on Monday, 23 October 2023 and Wednesday, 25 October 2023. The price is £20 for adults and £15 for children.

9. Bear Hunt at Kew Gardens: An interactive trail themed on the much-loved children’s book, ‘We’re Going On A Bear Hunt’. Young explorers and their families will face obstacles as they explore the lake and arboretum.Event Runs: 21 October - 29 October

10. Halloween at London Zoo: Things get extra-spooky at London Zoo this October half term, as Boo at the Zoo returns. The Halloween events include a trip to the extinct species graveyard, pumpkin decorating, dancing at the bubble boogie, plus crafts and animals talks. Event Runs: 21 October - 31 October

11. Jacqueline Wilson at Southbank Centre: Children’s author Jacqueline Wilson takes part in London Literature Festival at Southbank Centre, with an event introducing her new book, The Best Sleepover in the World. Thu 26 Oct, 11am. Family & young people £12

12. Brick Dinos at Horniman Museum: The Lego-centric Brick Dinos exhibition is back at Horniman Museum, with creatures from the Jurassic and Cretaceous Periods recreated in plastic bricks by artist Warren Elsmore. Event runs from now until the 29th October

13. Titanosaur at Natural History Museum: This exhibition explores the world of titanosaur Patagotitan mayorum — one of the largest known creatures to have ever stalked our planet. Get up close to the colossal creature, and learn how it survived on our planet.  Event runs now until January 2024

14. Decoding Pictures at the National Gallery This event is a fun and interactive way for kids to learn about art. It takes place on Tuesday, 24 October 2023 and Thursday, 26 October 2023. The event is free of charge.

15. Halloween Trail at Hampton Court Palace: This event offers a spooky trail around the historic palace. It takes place from 21-29 October 2023.

16. Mini Monsters at London Museum of Water & Steam: At this event, kids can learn about the creepy crawlies that live in our waterways. It takes place from Saturday, 21 October 2023 to Sunday, 29 October 2023

17. Jet and Space Week at the Royal Air Force Museum: Dedicated to all things space and aviation, this is sure to be a hit. It takes place from Monday, 23 October 2023 to Wednesday, 25 October 2023 and Thursday, 26 October 2023 to Sunday, 29 October 2023. The event is free of charge

18. October Half Term at WWT London Wetland Centre: This event offers a great opportunity to learn about wildlife and nature. It takes place from Saturday, 21 October 2023 to Sunday, 29 October 2023. The price is £17 for adults, £11 for children aged between 4-17 years, and £47.50 for a family ticket (2 adults and 2 children).

19. Science Museum Wonderlab

💷 Pricing: £8-£10 per person. Dive into the world of science and let your child's curiosity soar! With over 50 mind-blowing exhibits, live shows, and a chemistry bar, it's a day well spent. 

20.  LEGO® Brickosaurs at London Zoo  

 💷 Pricing: Included in general admission (£20-£30) .Imagine a world where dinosaurs are made of LEGO®. It's a brick-tastic adventure that combines learning with play.

21. British Museum Design a mosaic mask inspired by the Aztec Gods,this event runs between 10.00–16.00 in the Samsung Digital Discovery Centre on the following days: Saturday 14 October 2023, Saturday 28 October 2023 


22. The National Gallery's Art Detective  

Turn your child into an art detective for a day. They'll explore paintings and solve mysteries, all while learning about art history .Tuesday, 24 October 2023

Session times :11 - 11.45 am; 1 - 1.45 pm. Most suitable for ages 5-13, but all are welcome!

23. The V&A Museum of Childhood's "Crafty Creations"
