Make your own slime

he slime rave is here to stay and here’s how to make your own!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup clear school glue

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

  • 1 tbsp saline solution (containing sodium borate)

Optional Add-ins:

  • Food coloring (a few drops for color)

  • Glitter (for sparkle)

  • Scented oils (for fragrance)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Mixing Bowl: Start by choosing a mixing bowl. Make sure it's clean and dry.

  2. Add Clear Glue: Pour 1/2 cup of clear school glue into the mixing bowl.

  3. Add Water: Add 1/2 cup of water to the glue in the bowl. Mix them together until they are well combined.

  4. Add Baking Soda: Add 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda to the mixture. Mix it in thoroughly. Baking soda helps with the slime's texture.

  5. Color and Glitter: If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to the mixture to give your slime a color. You can also add glitter for a sparkling effect.

  6. Add Saline Solution: Add 1 tablespoon of saline solution to the mixture. This will help the slime form and become less sticky.

  7. Stir and Knead: Mix the ingredients well. The slime will start to come together and may still be a bit sticky. Remove it from the bowl and knead it with your hands. If it's still too sticky, add a little more saline solution in small amounts until it reaches the desired consistency.

  8. Play and Store: Once the slime is not too sticky and has a nice stretchy texture, it's ready to play with. You can stretch it, squish it, and have fun exploring its unique properties.

  9. Storage: Store the slime in an airtight container or a resealable plastic bag to keep it from drying out. Make sure the kids wash their hands after playing with the slime.

Safety Tips:

  • Adult supervision is recommended, especially when handling the ingredients and during the mixing process.

  • If the child has sensitive skin or allergies, test a small amount of slime on their skin before playing with it extensively.

  • Keep the slime away from surfaces that could be stained, as some food colorings might transfer.

  • Remind kids not to ingest the slime, as it is not edible.

Remember that this is a basic recipe, and you can get creative by adding different colors, textures, and scents to customize the slime to your child's preferences.
